At Balanced Minds Psychology & Wellness, we offer comprehensive psychological evaluations, including psychoeducational testing, ADHD evaluations, autism evaluations, gifted assessments, and evaluations to better understand learning, attention, emotional, or behavioral concerns. Each evaluation is tailored to the child or teen, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Our office is located in St. Petersburg, Florida.

How do I know if my child needs testing?

Common signs include ongoing attention difficulties, learning challenges, anxiety, emotional regulation concerns, or questions about autism or ADHD. Testing can help clarify what’s going on and guide meaningful next steps.

What ages do you evaluate?

We typically evaluate children starting around preschool age (3+) and continue through adolescence and adulthood. The specific tests we use depend on age, developmental level, and the questions you’re hoping to answer.

How long does the testing process take?

The evaluation process usually includes an intake appointment, one or more testing sessions, and a feedback session. From start to finish, most evaluations are completed within a few weeks, depending on scheduling and the type of testing needed. We’ll walk you through the timeline before getting started so you know what to expect.

Can schools use your evaluations?

Yes. Our evaluations are commonly used to support school accommodations, IEP or 504 planning, and educational decision-making. We provide clear, practical recommendations that schools can understand and implement, and we’re happy to collaborate with schools when appropriate.

Do you accept insurance for testing?

Accepted Answer

Balanced Minds Psychology & Wellness is primarily a private-pay practice. Psychological evaluations are private pay. This allows us to provide comprehensive, individualized assessments without the restrictions often imposed by insurance companies.

We do provide superbills that families can submit to their insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement, depending on their plan. We also accept Step Up for Students scholarships (FES-UA) for eligible families. Operating as a private-pay practice allows us to provide comprehensive, individualized evaluations without the limitations often imposed by insurance companies.

What happens after testing is complete?

After testing, you’ll receive a detailed feedback session and a written report that explains results in clear, parent-friendly language. We focus on strengths, practical recommendations, school supports, and next steps, which may include therapy, academic accommodations, or community resources.
